Recycled Resolutions
December and January are always filled with so much hustle and bustle, but they're also always filled with magic, hope, and new beginnings!
During this time, our Collaboratory Cubs continued working on their core units, but we also made time for some fun activities that I like to call "Maker Breaks" where the students take a break from their core units to tackle quick Makerspace challenges to change up the pace a little bit.
This year, our students worked on a Maker Break Challenge that we called "Recycled Resolutions". Students were challenged to plan out, design, and create a 3D model that represented their New Year's Resolution for 2020, using mostly recycled items. This way, the students could keep their models on display either in their rooms at home or on their desks at school to serve as constant reminders of their goals for the new year.
Our students' creativity, hard work, and determination never cease to amaze me! Check out some of their awesome Recycled Resolutions:
Some of our students want to put their green thumbs to use and plant gardens!
Other students resolved to help clean up the Earth by promoting more recycling!
These students want to work on improving their creativity!
These students would like to improve their fitness! I'm loving these model weights!
These students want to continue to challenge themselves to think outside the box and come up with creative, new ideas! These light bulbs were certainly a great start towards their goal!
These students want to work on their writing skills!
These students want to keep practicing so they get better at their favorite sports: soccer, basketball, and lacrosse!
These students want to improve in some of their favorite hobbies: dancing and swimming!
Some students want to promote awareness about important causes and help support those around them! I was so proud of their big hearts, their selflessness, and their determination to make a difference in the world!
I know that 2020 is going to be an amazing year for our Collaboratory Cubs!
