The Final Post of 2017

It's New Year's Eve, and I can't help but reflect back on all of the excitement that 2017 brought to the Collaboratory!  I am so grateful for all of the support from our Tabernacle Family, and I am so lucky to be surrounded by such a wonderful network of people.  I wanted to take a moment to share our final 2017 adventures from the Collaboratory!

In Pre-School, we read The Magical Snowman and created some of our own magical snowmen out of recycled materials!

In kindergarten, the students finished building their index card towers and tested them for durability!  They even measured how tall their towers were!

In first grade, the students were gearing up for their Polar Express Day, so we challenged the students with a special Collaboratory activity to get them ready for their special day.  The students had to redesign and build stronger Polar Express train tracks!  The students even had to test the tracks using mini cars, the Code-and-Go Robot Mouse, and the Code-a-Pillar to test their effectiveness (and of course we pretended each of these items was the real Polar Express train)!

In second grade, the students continued exploring filtration systems by testing out a variety of straining materials and exploring how they can be used together to be more efficient.

In third grade, the students were celebrating Grinch Day, so we decided to join in on the fun in the Collaboratory!  The students had an extra special challenge:  Help the Grinch return all of the presents to Whoville by creating a larger, more durable sled!  The students were only allowed to use holiday wrapping paper, ribbon, candy canes, and tape!  The students even had to test how many "presents" their sleds could hold!

In fourth grade, the students explored Rube Goldberg machines and created their own mini machines to help a snowball make it from one end of the table to the other!

I'm looking forward to all of the magic that 2018 will bring!
